Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Pekka Perkalla (ranked 4353 p4p, 4488 weight class) and Ignacio Ferreri (ranked 320 p4p, 325 weight class). Ferreri is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by No Hay Dolor - No Te Va Gustar. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pekka Perkalla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Ignacio Ferreri!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perkalla misses with a jab, cross combination.
Ferreri moves away from the strike by Perkalla.
Ferreri lands with an overhand left.
Perkalla looks to land a left hand but Ferreri moved out of range nicely.
Ferreri let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Ferreri lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Perkalla feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Ferreri wants to sweep here but Perkalla controlling him for the moment.
Perkalla lands a couple of decent looking shots.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Ignacio Ferreri is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Perkalla fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ferreri manages to avoid it.
Perkalla seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

We've been informed that Ferreri has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Perkalla connects with a nice short shot to Ferreri's temple.
Perkalla has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Perkalla seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Ferreri rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Perkalla moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Ferreri swings for the body but Perkalla moves out of range.
Ferreri lands a nice hook to Perkalla's body. Perkalla takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Perkalla bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Perkalla shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ferreri's guard.

Perkalla slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Perkalla is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Ferreri will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Perkalla has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Pekka Perkalla.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Perkalla, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
