PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bjarne Schmeichel (ranked 5428 p4p, 622 weight class) and Batara Sari (ranked 489 p4p, 81 weight class). Batara Sari told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Batara Sari!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Santiago Holmes and Michael Johnstone.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sari blocks a head kick by Schmeichel.
Sari moves out of range of the body kick from Schmeichel.
Sari takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Some bone on bone action there as Sari checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Schmeichel looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Sari closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Schmeichel did well to prevent Sari getting side control.
Schmeichel is trying to escape back to his feet but Sari uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Sari is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Schmeichel has escaped the position, nice work there.
Schmeichel wants to control but Sari postures up.
Sari is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Sari is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sari stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Schmeichel swivels though and keeps the full guard.

It looks like Sari might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

It seemed like Sari was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Schmeichel definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

That was a close round but I would say that Bjarne Schmeichel will probably get the nod.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sari takes a little break here. Schmeichel wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
