PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Terrance Graves (ranked 1044 p4p, 1275 weight class) and Ralph Hall (ranked 140 p4p, 161 weight class). Hall has chosen Pinball Wizard as his entrance music. Terrance Graves could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Ralph Hall's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Terrance Graves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 14 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ralph Hall!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hall lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Graves seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Graves ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hall moves away.
Graves smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

It looks like Ralph Hall has been cut.
Graves swings and misses with a hook to the body.
And Hall tries to counter it with a takedown but Graves pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Hall pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Graves is looking to counter with head kicks.
Hall scores with a jab to the body.
Hall scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hall throws a nice looking combination but Graves bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Graves throwing a counter right hand but Hall manages to avoid it.
Hall misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Graves.
Hall lands with a right hand.

Hall cracks a nice hook into Graves's ribs.
Graves pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Graves takes one to the side of the head.
A low kick from Graves misses

and Hall counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Hall slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Hall trying to control the position but Graves is working away.
Hall laying and praying for a moment but Graves takes advantage and regains half guard.

Hall performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Hall looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Hall tries to pass the half guard into mount. Graves knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Graves has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hall is working away from the top position though.
Graves is staying active underneath Hall, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Hall is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Hall trying to control the action but Graves is working from the bottom.
Graves tries to get to full guard but Hall has control of the leg.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Graves preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Hall wants to pass to mount but Graves is defending the position.

Hall is looking for a kimura but Graves is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hall to get the leverage.
Hall trying to control the action but Graves is working from the bottom.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Hall seems to be working for a kimura but Graves defends the submission attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Graves is holding on to half guard well.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ralph Hall dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Ralph Hall's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!

Graves's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Hall connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Graves scrambles back to his feet.
Graves tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Hall is able to avoid easily.
Hall scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Hall moves out of range as Graves strikes.
Hall fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Graves looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Graves ducks right into an uppercut from Hall.
Graves throws a body kick despite being completely out of range

and Hall decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Graves's guard.

Hall trying to control but Graves is working from the bottom.
Graves can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hall controls the pace.
Graves keeping moving, preventing Hall from controlling successfully.
Graves keeping full guard, as Hall tries to pass.
Hall has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Hall wants to control from the top but Graves keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Terrance Graves is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hall has his takedown stuffed
and Graves counters with a nice uppercut.
A jab from Graves misses.
Hall ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Graves moves away.
Graves fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Graves throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A jab from Hall does it's job there.
Graves misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hall.
Graves works Hall's body with a nice hook.
Graves scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Graves throws a head kick that misses.
Graves throws a head kick but Hall moves out of range.

Graves lands a big head kick that sends Hall tumbling to the mat! Graves takes a step backwards and waves Hall back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Hall is rocked!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hall walks into a picture perfect straight right hand from Graves! He's gone down face first to the canvas, unconscious before he even hit the floor! Ohhhh. My. Goodness! That boys and girls was a beautiful knockout! Give that man a biscuit!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:06 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Terrance Graves!
After winning the bout, Terrance Graves thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
