And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 20 wins and 26 losses; Dragon Li Chai!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Chai shoots in and bounces Steel Penn off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Steel Penn (0) vs (2) Chai
Chai got a little sloppy there for a moment and Steel Penn has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Chai has managed to get both his arms back between Steel Penn's legs - danger averted.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Chai slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Steel Penn might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Chai wants to control from the top but Steel Penn keeps moving.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Steel Penn wants to work for an arm triangle but Chai is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Steel Penn is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Chai is just riding it out for now. Steel Penn eventually gives up the hold.

Steel Penn is working for a guillotine from mount but Chai frees his head quite easily.
Chai tries to improve his position but Steel Penn has taken his back! Steel Penn has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Chai tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Steel Penn pushes Chai away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

After the fight, Bjj Steel Penn was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly. |
