Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Douglas Sampson (ranked 203 p4p, 173 weight class) and Zack Rize (ranked 33 p4p, 27 weight class). Sampson comes to the cage accompanied by Sunshine (ft. Anthony Hamilton) - Twista . Rize has chosen Luke Combs - When It Rains It Pours as his entrance music. Douglas Sampson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Douglas Sampson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zack Rize!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, David Schapiro and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sampson takes a swing at Rize's ribcage but misses.
Rize takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Rize has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Sampson throws a leg kick
and Rize makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Sampson misses with a hook
and Rize counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Sampson takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Sampson thuds his right hand into Rize's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Rize chopping away at his opponent's legs.
A nice leg kick lands there from Rize.
A lazy left from Rize finds it's target.
Sampson walks into a jab.

Rize sends Sampson crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Rize is motioning to the referee to let Sampson up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Sampson is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rize throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sampson stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Oh Sampson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Sampson doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Sampson seems to have got his legs back now.
Sampson is breathing heavily.
Rize uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Sampson.
Rize was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Sampson motions for Rize to come forward. Sampson throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rize fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Sampson.
Sampson looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Rize connects with a nice looking jab.
Rize throws a front kick aimed at Sampson's knee but Sampson avoids it well.
Sampson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Rize feints a counter leg kick.
Sampson scores with a hook to the body. Rize takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Sampson connects with a good right hand that stumbles Rize. Rize circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Sampson turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Rize steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Sampson.
Rize tries a low kick but Sampson avoids it.
A big left from Sampson misses.
A nice side step and Rize releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Sampson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Rize.
Sampson throws a body punch but Rize moves out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sampson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Rize moves away.
Rize lands a right hook to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A solid leg kick lands there for Rize.
Sampson throws a hook but Rize blocks it.
Rize doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Rize scores with a sloppy right hand. Sampson should have avoided that one.
Rize has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Rize misses with an uppercut. Sampson saw that one coming.
A counter left hand to the body from Sampson misses its target.
Rize misses with a leg kick.
Sampson is looking to counter punch.
Sampson throws a leg kick
and Rize counters with a straight right hand.
Rize swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Rize does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Sampson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Rize takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Sampson swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Rize on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Rize throws a quick inside leg kick.
A shot to the body from Sampson misses
and Rize counters with a slapping leg kick.
A big right from Sampson misses.
Rize walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Sampson checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Rize swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Rize throws a lazy right hand but Sampson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Sampson looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A chopping leg kick lands by Rize.
Sampson shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Rize throws a front kick aimed at Sampson's knee but Sampson avoids it well.
Rize bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Good standup being displayed there by Rize as he connects with a hook.
Sampson swings and misses with a hook to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sampson misses with a straight right.
A nice side step and Rize releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Rize is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Sampson had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
Sampson slips a jab from Rize.
Sampson scores with a crisp jab that stopped Rize in his tracks.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rize feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Sampson sprawling to the canvas! Sampson rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Rize finish him?!
Rize throws a quick inside leg kick.
Sampson takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Sampson circles to his right, straight into a beautiful hook by Rize. Sampson falls face first into the canvas - great knockout victory for Rize!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Zack Rize!
Zack Rize is the new heavyweight champion!
Our winner, Zack Rize, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
Douglas Sampson spoke after the fight, saying 'Nothing goes over my head… my reflexes are too fast, but my famously huge turd pre fight left me feeling dizzy and I was seeing double vision the whole fight'.
