The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Breen shoots in looking for a takedown but Popovic manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Breen's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Popovic doesn't manage to clinch there - Breen circles away.
Breen is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Popovic misses the shot to the body.
Breen feints the counter takedown.

Popovic looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Popovic looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Breen wants to get back to full guard but Popovic has passed into side control.
Breen can't do much from the bottom here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Popovic wants to stand but Breen has his arm trapped.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Breen tries to improve position but can't.

Breen avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Popovic.
Breen is not content to let Popovic control the position.
Popovic advances to mount.
Popovic is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Breen is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Breen is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Popovic is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Popovic extends the arm and Breen is forced to tap!
