PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Long Thai (ranked 4005 p4p, 3842 weight class) and Sean O Rally (ranked 405 p4p, 400 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 41 - 3, fighting out of Los Angeles, Long Thai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sean O Rally!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Chris Dean and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice cross by O Rally.
O Rally scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
O Rally is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Thai blocks a jab.
Thai tries to counter by moving into the clinch but O Rally manages to circle out of the way.
O Rally cracks Thai with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
O Rally scores with a crisp jab that stopped Thai in his tracks.
Sean O Rally seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A looping hook to the body misses from Thai. O Rally does a little dance to reset his feet.
Thai keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from O Rally.
It looked like Thai was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from O Rally.

Excellent takedown into side control there by O Rally.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
O Rally trying to control the action but Thai is working from the bottom.

O Rally is trying to get an arm triangle but Thai is defending well.

O Rally tries for a kimura but Thai is defending well.
The referee asks O Rally politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. O Rally prefers to stall for the moment though.

O Rally is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Thai has escaped the position, nice work there.
Thai tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Thai is looking to reverse the position.
Thai prevents O Rally from moving into mount.
A control attempt from Thai but he's now mounted!

O Rally looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Thai on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Thai tries to get out of the position.
O Rally tries to control but Thai wriggling away.

O Rally has hold of Thai's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Thai manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

O Rally goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Thai is on top in guard.
O Rally pulls Thai in to control the position.

Thai avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Thai trying to control the position from guard on top but O Rally is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

O Rally looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
O Rally looking for a sweep. Not yet O Rally, not yet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
O Rally is adopting a defensive guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Sean O Rally dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Nice takedown defense from Thai. No joy for O Rally on that attempt.
Thai is looking to counter the offense by O Rally and move into the clinch.

O Rally fails to land the takedown.
Thai tries to clinch there but O Rally circles away.
O Rally throws a leg kick that misses.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Long Thai has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sean O Rally.
Thai misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from O Rally.

O Rally breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Sean O Rally seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by O Rally!

No luck with that takedown attempt from O Rally.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for O Rally. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Thai needs to keep his hands up - O Rally had a free shot at his head there.
O Rally goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
O Rally has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Thai fails to land with a series of punches.
Thai with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling O Rally to score with a decent uppercut.
O Rally has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Thai.
O Rally shoots in but no luck this time.
Thai seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
A left lands for O Rally.
O Rally works the jab nicely.

Thai tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but O Rally paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Despite the aggression on O Rally's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
O Rally lands a jab to the head.
Long Thai is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
O Rally works the jab nicely.
O Rally on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
O Rally throws a jab but it's blocked by Thai.
Thai wants to clinch
and O Rally counters with a straight right hand.
O Rally ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Thai moves away.
O Rally has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
O Rally lands with a nice combination. Thai backs away looking to recover.
Thai pivots, looking for a leg kick but O Rally is out of range and Thai settles back down.
Thai takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Thai throws an overhand right that lands on O Rally's shoulder, as O Rally tries to avoid the shot.
O Rally misses with a hook.
Thai gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Thai stuffs the takedown.
O Rally throws a body punch but Thai moves out of range.
O Rally connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Thai on the wrong end of a nice hook.
O Rally jabs Thai to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Thai tries to clinch up but O Rally circles away and keeps his distance.
O Rally lands a nice hook to Thai's body. Thai takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

As O Rally tries to get set, Thai tries to push him back and clinch up but O Rally manages to avoid the attempt.

Thai drops his hands momentarily and O Rally takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
O Rally throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Thai is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from O Rally.
Thai takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

O Rally fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
O Rally thows a left - swing and a miss!
O Rally throws a jab when Thai was well out of range.
Thai is on the wrong end of a nice combination from O Rally.

Sean O Rally showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Thai takes a swing at O Rally's ribcage but misses.
O Rally connects with a looping right hand.
O Rally jabbing away but nothing is landing.

and Thai counters by moving into the clinch.
O Rally managing to block the knees to the body from Thai.
O Rally scores with a shoulder strike.
O Rally has Thai pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Thai manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Thai looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
O Rally misses with some punches.
O Rally blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

O Rally lands with a straight right. Thai didn't see that one coming.
O Rally swings for the body but Thai moves out of range.

O Rally's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and O Rally duly obliges.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As O Rally tries to get set, Thai tries to push him back and clinch up but O Rally manages to avoid the attempt.
O Rally swats away the attempt to clinch by Thai.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from O Rally! But no joy.
Good exchange - O Rally coming out on top.
O Rally swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
As O Rally tries to get set, Thai tries to push him back and clinch up but O Rally manages to avoid the attempt.
Thai ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Thai throws a series of punches but O Rally avoids them all with ease.
Thai walks into a left hand.

Thai misses with a body shot.
O Rally connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
O Rally lands with a hook. Thai tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Thai scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. O Rally doesn't seem bothered though.
O Rally lands a jab to Thai's midsection.

Thai takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
O Rally's jab looks to have found its range, popping Thai under the eye.
O Rally throws a predictable looking body shot

and Thai moves into the clinch.
O Rally is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
O Rally goes for a takedown in the clinch but Thai prevents it.
Sean O Rally is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

O Rally is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Long Thai has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sean O Rally.
O Rally tries for a takedown. No joy.
Thai lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!

O Rally has picked Thai up - he's going for a ride! O Rally dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
O Rally stalling away here and it's allowed Thai to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
O Rally stands and throws Thai's legs to the side, diving into side control.
O Rally advances nicely into full mount.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sean O Rally comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got O Rally winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
