The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Left hook, right uppercut from Tavares.
Tavares throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Tavares darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Xhekaj sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Tavares throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Xhekaj fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Tavares fakes the leg kick and cracks Xhekaj in the body.
Tavares scores with a jab to the body.
Jesus Tavares seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tavares thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Xhekaj if he has to take too many more of those.
Tavares lands a nice hook to Xhekaj's body. Xhekaj takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Xhekaj shoots in for a double leg but Tavares sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Tavares lands a nice looking body kick.
Xhekaj is breathing heavily.
Tavares lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

Tavares lands a big uppercut and Xhekaj crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Xhekaj looks OK. Tavares waves Xhekaj back to his feet!

I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Tavares has cracked Xhekaj with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Tavares lands another huge swinging hook and Xhekaj tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Xhekaj, before Tavares can land any more shots!
