Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Antoon Leijerweerd (ranked 3314 p4p, 2148 weight class) and Pinky Eye (ranked 408 p4p, 282 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Eye's choice of entrance music: Antti Tuisku - Grind mayhem. Antoon Leijerweerd could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Pinky Eye's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Antoon Leijerweerd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pinky Eye!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Vladimir Khabensky and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Leijerweerd finds it's way through Eye's defenses.
Leijerweerd misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Eye.
Leijerweerd defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Eye.
Eye tries a head kick but it misses.
Eye looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Eye avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Leijerweerd slaps away a takedown attempt from Eye, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Eye tries to score a power double leg takedown but Leijerweerd sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Eye somewhat.
Antoon Leijerweerd has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pinky Eye.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Leijerweerd throws a nice outside leg kick.
Eye throws a poor cross that misses
and Leijerweerd counters with a nice body kick.

Eye tries for a takedown but Leijerweerd circles away easily
and Leijerweerd cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Eye changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Leijerweerd tries to avoid it but Eye manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Leijerweerd to the ground. Leijerweerd escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Leijerweerd rushes Eye and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Leijerweerd.
Leijerweerd digs a right hand underneath Eye's ribcage. Eye let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Leijerweerd lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Leijerweerd is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Leijerweerd tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Eye throws a head punch that misses.
Leijerweerd lands with a light punch inside.

I was talking to Leijerweerd's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Leijerweerd lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Eye backwards.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Eye wants to break the clinch but can't.
Leijerweerd tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Eye pulls guard successfully.
Eye is adopting a defensive guard.

Leijerweerd tries to free his leg and advance position but Eye is retaining full guard.
Eye bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Leijerweerd's guard.

Leijerweerd trying to keep a closed guard but Eye is proving a slippery customer.

Eye postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Eye is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Eye lands a couple of elbows.
Eye drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Eye jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Leijerweerd not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Eye chips away with some ground and pound.
Leijerweerd preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Eye has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Leijerweerd has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Eye has passed into side control.

Leijerweerd tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Eye wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Eye has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Leijerweerd!
