Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dwalin Broadaxe (ranked 2576 p4p, 2834 weight class) and Mono Loco (ranked 210 p4p, 234 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dwalin Broadaxe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 40 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mono Loco!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paul Aken and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Loco is defended easily by Broadaxe.
Broadaxe changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Loco shoots in for a takedown but Broadaxe shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Broadaxe feinted with a counter takedown.
Loco fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Broadaxe avoids it really well and circles away.
Dwalin Broadaxe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mono Loco.
Loco shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

so Broadaxe counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Loco keeping moving, preventing Broadaxe from controlling successfully.
Broadaxe content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Broadaxe engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Broadaxe works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Broadaxe looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Loco tries to get to full guard but Broadaxe has control of the leg.
Loco is trying to maintain the position but Broadaxe is very close to passing his half guard.

Loco looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Broadaxe passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Loco!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Broadaxe lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Loco hang on?
Loco manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Loco wants to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Loco trying to hold on to Broadaxe's head to control him but Broadaxe postures up.

Broadaxe looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Loco gets full guard.
Broadaxe stays in close to Loco's body and controls the position.
Our spies down at at Beating a Dead Horse to Death Again inform us that Loco has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Broadaxe is in close to Loco's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Loco controls Broadaxe momentarily but Broadaxe frees himself.

Loco is looking for a triangle but Broadaxe pushes his legs off easily.
Loco has momentary wrist control but Broadaxe slips an elbow through the middle.
Broadaxe chips away with some ground and pound.
Broadaxe lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Broadaxe landing some decent shots from guard.
Loco tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Broadaxe works over Loco with some ground and pound from guard.
Broadaxe wants to control from the top but Loco keeps moving.

Loco looking for a guillotine here but Broadaxe defends easily.
Broadaxe won't allow Loco to sweep him here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Broadaxe distracts Loco with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Loco working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Broadaxe doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Broadaxe manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Loco escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Broadaxe gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Loco is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Broadaxe is aware though and is defending well.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Broadaxe fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Loco, pushing him back against the cage.

Broadaxe successfully pulls guard.
Broadaxe tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Broadaxe tries to strike from the bottom.
Loco trying to control but Broadaxe is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Broadaxe wants to sweep here but Loco controlling him for the moment.

Loco pushes down on Broadaxe's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Broadaxe might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Loco tries to pass to full mount but Broadaxe defends it.
Broadaxe tries to roll over but Loco keeps him under control.
Broadaxe keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Broadaxe leaves Loco with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Loco gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Broadaxe counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Broadaxe has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Broadaxe postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Loco isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Broadaxe stacks Loco on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Broadaxe!

Loco tries to improve position but can't.
Broadaxe is looking to take a break and control but Loco is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Broadaxe cracks Loco with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Broadaxe working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Loco is not content to let Broadaxe control the position.
Loco manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Broadaxe wants to pass to mount but Loco is defending the position.
Broadaxe looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Loco with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Broadaxe chips away with some ground and pound.
Loco not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Loco working for a triangle but Broadaxe defends it easily.
Broadaxe is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Loco can do to turn this around?
Loco is breathing heavily.
Broadaxe wants to control from the top but Loco keeps moving.
Broadaxe cracks Loco with a solid left hand.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Broadaxe passes Loco's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Dwalin Broadaxe dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Broadaxe drops down looking for a counter takedown but Loco sprawls and moves away.
Mono Loco seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Loco goes for a double leg but Broadaxe avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Broadaxe continues to drive forward.

Broadaxe changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Loco looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Loco is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Broadaxe off and has taken his back!
Broadaxe looking very determined here, making life difficult for Loco.
Well, with Loco on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Broadaxe is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Broadaxe can't escape the position.
Loco trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Loco has the hooks in. Broadaxe is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Loco is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Broadaxe has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Loco takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Broadaxe tries to break free.
Broadaxe tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Broadaxe regains half guard.
Broadaxe is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Broadaxe is defending against the submission attempts here by Loco.
Broadaxe tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Broadaxe tries to get to full guard but Loco has control of the leg.
Broadaxe is working hard here to advance position.

Broadaxe is trying to maintain the position but Loco is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Broadaxe is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Broadaxe looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Loco with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Well Broadaxe has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
