And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 20 wins and 33 losses; Vartan Esteves!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Macker rushes Esteves and presses him up against the cage.
Esteves is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Macker gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Macker is pressing down on Esteves's thigh, looking to free his foot. Esteves is holding on for now.
Macker prevents Esteves from improving his position.

Esteves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Macker swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Macker has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Esteves isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Macker stacks Esteves on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Macker!

Esteves is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Macker wants to control the pace but Esteves is squirming around nicely.

Macker is riding his opponent, not letting Esteves buck him off.

Macker controlling the position well here. Esteves rolled but Macker kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Macker looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Esteves trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Esteves postures up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Macker is on top in guard.

Esteves is looking for a triangle but Macker pushes his legs off easily.
Macker controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Macker got a little sloppy there for a moment and Esteves has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Macker has managed to get both his arms back between Esteves's legs - danger averted.
Esteves keeping moving, preventing Macker from controlling successfully.

Esteves wants to control position but Macker is using a can opener to pass guard... He's turned it into a full on guillotine from mount now! Big trouble for Esteves here! He's turning a lovely shade of purple and yep! He's tapping out! I would say world class Jiu Jitsu but is it really? It was nice but let's not get silly about it.
