PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Aslak Maitonaama (ranked 1088 p4p, 1146 weight class) and Mitsu Misawa (ranked 136 p4p, 143 weight class). Mitsu Misawa told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Aslak Maitonaama!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mitsu Misawa!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Misawa has closed the distance and engaged Maitonaama in a clinch.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Maitonaama.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Misawa just misses with a elbow thrown towards Maitonaama's brow.
Maitonaama blocks an elbow strike from Misawa.
Our sources have told us that Maitonaama has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.
Misawa is leaning against Maitonaama and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Misawa controlling the action here for a moment.
Misawa goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Maitonaama drops down looking for an ankle pick but Misawa pulls his leg out and moves away.
Misawa tries to close the distance and clinch but Maitonaama swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Let's hope that Misawa has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Misawa tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Maitonaama manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Maitonaama catches Misawa with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Misawa gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Misawa holds on and takes a little breather.
