PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Everest Frank (ranked 958 p4p, 1770 weight class) and Mike Cozad (ranked 53 p4p, 92 weight class). Frank's entrance music is Knife Talk x Drake ft. 21 Savage x Project Pat. A fine choice. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Everest Frank!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Cozad!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Dmitry Maklakov and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Frank throws a right and a left that both miss.
Cozad throws a lazy uppercut
and Frank counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Cozad with a nice calf kick.
Frank shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cozad sprawls well. Cozad wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Frank gets slowly back to his feet.
A little jabbing left from Cozad on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Cozad throws a jab when Frank was well out of range.
It looked like Frank was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Cozad.
Frank tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cozad was well out of range. Poor timing from Frank.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cozad moves out of range as Frank strikes.
Cozad throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Frank sees it coming and avoids it easily.
A little feinted left hand from Frank on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
We've been hearing reports that Frank has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Cozad misses the jab.
As Cozad tries to get set, Frank tries to push him back and clinch up but Cozad manages to avoid the attempt.
Cozad misses with a looping left.

A looping hook to the body misses from Cozad. Frank does a little dance to reset his feet.
Cozad misses with a body shot.
Frank throws a body shot but no joy.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Cozad! But no joy.
Frank swings widly with a right hand
and Cozad connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

It looks like Everest Frank has been cut.
Frank takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Frank defending well as Cozad loads up on a big left hand.
An attempted straight right counter from Frank misses the target.
Cozad takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Cozad keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Frank fails to land the takedown.

Frank rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Cozad moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Frank misses with a wild body shot.
Cozad throws a big shot that misses.
Frank moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Frank uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Cozad.
Cozad scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

Everest Frank's cut is getting worse.
Frank jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Cozad tests Frank's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Cozad throws a lazy uppercut
and Frank counters with a nice body shot.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Frank keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Cozad might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Frank.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Everest Frank. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jab, jab by Cozad - just one landing.
Frank fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Cozad avoids the body shot from Frank.
Frank ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cozad moves away.
Cozad swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Cozad lands a big uppercut and Frank crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Frank looks OK. Cozad waves Frank back to his feet!

Frank is rocked!

Everest Frank's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Frank rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Cozad counters with a massive hook, right on the button! He's out cold! Damn, that was naaaaaasty! Hopefully he'll be OK.
