PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ezekiel Marley (ranked 775 p4p, 495 weight class) and Enrico Fermi (ranked 104 p4p, 70 weight class). Marley's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, WANTED DREAD & ALIVE. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ezekiel Marley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Enrico Fermi!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Gregory Folan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
A slow jab from Marley misses its intended target.
Fermi unleashes a big counter combination but Marley bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Fermi pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Marley scores with a push kick.
Marley thuds a left hand into Fermi's body.
Fermi takes a swing at Marley's ribcage but misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fermi looks for the body kick but Marley saw that one coming.
Fermi misses with a wild body shot.

Fermi bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Fermi throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Fermi has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Marley wants to clinch.
Fermi doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Marley with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Marley lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Fermi on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

It looks like Enrico Fermi has been cut.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Fermi misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Marley.
Marley throwing a counter right hand but Fermi manages to avoid it.
Fermi tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

A low kick lands for Marley.
Marley moves in looking to clinch but Fermi pushes him off.
Marley takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
We've been told by Marley's head coaches at Convicted Fight Club that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Marley fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Fermi manages to avoid it.
Marley throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Fermi takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.

Marley throws a half hearted mid kick.
Fermi doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
A head kick misses from Fermi.
That kick from Marley tenderised Fermi's leg. Fermi is trying to keep his angry face on.
Marley defending well as Fermi loads up on a big left hand.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fermi shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Marley scores with a punch to the head.
Marley avoids the body shot from Fermi.
Marley tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Fermi manages to circle out of the way.
Fermi misses with an uppercut

and Marley counters with a crisp one two that drops Fermi! Marley thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Fermi to his feet! Fermi is in big trouble!
Marley circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Fermi to the canvas! Fermi doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Marley keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ezekiel Marley!
After winning the bout, Ezekiel Marley thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
