PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Manco Capac (ranked 1255 p4p, 658 weight class) and Nova Lankinen (ranked 171 p4p, 87 weight class). Capac comes into the arena with Iggy Pop - The Passenger blaring out of the sound system. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nova Lankinen!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Capac.
Capac takes a swing at Lankinen's ribcage but misses.
Manco Capac seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lankinen throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A little feinted left hand from Capac on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Lankinen moves out of range as Capac strikes.
Lankinen looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Capac misses with a straight right.
Capac fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Capac goes for a double leg but Lankinen avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Lankinen continues to drive forward.

Capac gets through Lankinen's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

It looks like Nova Lankinen has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Lankinen.
Lankinen makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Lankinen scores with a nice hook to the head.
A head punch on the inside from Capac fails to land.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Capac throws a punch but it's blocked by Lankinen.

Lankinen's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Capac tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Lankinen avoids it.

Lankinen breaks the clinch.
Lankinen throws a shot from downtown. Capac moves away and avoids it.
Capac shoots in and drives through. Lankinen sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Manco Capac. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Capac lands a jab to Lankinen's midsection.
Capac scores with a nice right hand.
Capac throws a hook but Lankinen avoids it easily.
Capac digs a good body shot into Lankinen's ribs.
Capac lands a really nice looking cross but Lankinen seems unphased.
Lankinen swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Capac throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Lankinen uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Capac.

Capac fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
A combination from Lankinen does no damage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nice straight punches there by Capac. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Capac.

Capac fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lankinen manages to avoid it.

Capac goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Lankinen rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Capac's guard! Nice work there by Lankinen!
Capac seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Capac is trying to keep Lankinen in close.
Capac looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Lankinen trying to control the position from guard on top but Capac is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lankinen must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Capac is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Lankinen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Capac swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Capac tries to bench press Lankinen off him but Lankinen keeps the position.

Lankinen has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Capac is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Lankinen yanks on the arm and Capac is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Lankinen.
