Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Saul Hunter (ranked 1177 p4p, 709 weight class) and Dave Handerson (ranked 145 p4p, 94 weight class). Handerson is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by America - A Horse With No Name. Saul Hunter has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Saul Hunter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dave Handerson!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Igor Prikhodko and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Handerson fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hunter looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Handerson looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hunter has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Handerson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Handerson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Hunter will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Handerson trying to control the position from guard on top but Hunter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Handerson throwing strikes but missing.
Hunter is pulling down on Handerson's head. It's preventing any offense from Handerson, at least for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hunter is trying to keep Handerson in close.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Handerson working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Hunter working for a triangle but Handerson defends it easily.
Handerson cracks Hunter with a solid left hand.

Hunter can't keep his opponent in guard - Handerson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Hunter is refusing to be controlled, as Handerson sits in half guard.
Ground and pound from Handerson.
Handerson slows the pace down in half guard.
Handerson lands strikes from half guard.
Handerson is thwarting Hunter's attempts to control the position.

Handerson sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Hunter defending well though.

Handerson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Handerson has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Hunter tries to lock up and control but Handerson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
BOOM! Handerson connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Hunter slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Handerson lands strikes from half guard.
Hunter regains full guard. Nicely done.
Hunter seems keen to control Handerson's posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Handerson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Hunter seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Hunter avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hunter is trying to keep Handerson in close.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Handerson passes into half guard.
Handerson scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Handerson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hunter keeps working.
Handerson slips a nice elbow through Hunter's hands, connecting with Hunter's forehead.

Hunter actively working from the bottom here.

Handerson is trying to work for a kimura but Hunter is defending well.
Ground and pound from Handerson.
Hunter wants to get back to full guard.
Handerson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hunter with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Hunter is rocked!
Hunter tries to roll over but Handerson keeps him under control.
Oh Hunter is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hunter has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Handerson is working away from the top position though.
Hunter seems to have got his legs back now.
Hunter taking some punishment here, with Handerson in his half guard.
Hunter is not content to let Handerson control the position.
Handerson is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Handerson is nestled in close to Hunter, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Handerson scores with a big shot! Hunter's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Hunter! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dave Handerson!
During a confident post fight interview, Dave Handerson thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
