Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rice Flair!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Johns!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flair stalks Johns and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Johns's face. Johns staggers backwards, shaken.
Flair keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Johns misses with a low kick.
Flair lands a jab.
Johns scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Johns looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Johns avoids the body shot from Flair.
Johns doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Johns with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Flair to score with a decent uppercut.
Flair looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Flair throws a leg kick that misses.
John Johns seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Johns tries to land a front kick but Flair steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Nice combo by Flair! Oh, that's hurt him - Johns falls to the canvas and Flair follows him into side control.

Johns is rocked!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Johns is trying to escape the position but Flair is controlling the position.
Johns is still in real trouble! Can Flair finish him?
Johns is trying to improve his position.
Johns seems to have recovered his senses.

A lull in the action here as Flair stalls from top position.
Johns can't do much from the bottom here.
Johns tries to buck Flair off but Flair is having none of it.
Flair is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Johns felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Flair working away.
Johns might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Flair haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Flair is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
You can see the frustration on Johns's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Johns is trying to get back to half guard.
Flair taking a breather here.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Johns throws out a loose jab but Flair uses good head movement to avoid it.
Flair is looking for a counter combo.
Flair throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Flair lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Flair lands a front kick.
Flair scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Flair fails with an attempt to clinch.
Flair feints and then cracks Johns's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Johns down.
Johns swings widly with a right hand
and Flair counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Flair takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Flair scores with a hook to the body. Johns takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Flair ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Johns looks winded!
Johns throws a lazy uppercut
and Flair makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
and Flair counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Johns! He's just covering up as Flair starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rice Flair!
