Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Terrance Graves (ranked 1291 p4p, 2339 weight class) and Thufir Hawat (ranked 168 p4p, 288 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Terrance Graves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Thufir Hawat!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Sosuke Kotani and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab lands there for Graves.
Graves cracks Hawat with a right hand to the side of the head.
Hawat has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Graves darts in and clinches Hawat up against the cage.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Hawat.
Graves presses Hawat against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Hawat avoiding damage as Graves throws knees to the body.
A body shot lands from Graves.
Hawat blocks a body shot from Graves.
Graves tries to work over Hawat's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Graves digs a right hand into Hawat's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Hawat's gas tank.
Graves prevents a body shot from Hawat.
Graves scores with a shot to the side of Hawat's head.
Graves misses with the head strike.
Graves presses Hawat against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Graves manages to break the clinch.
Graves scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Hawat doesn't seem bothered though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Graves looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hawat with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Graves fails to land a wild elbow strike.

The ground and pound from Graves seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Hawat is trying to get back to half guard.

Graves throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Hawat works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Graves shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hawat's guard.

Graves postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Graves keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hawat's head.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Graves makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Graves slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Graves lands a couple of elbows.
Graves throws a big elbow that misses.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Graves accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Graves looking to sit in guard and control but Hawat gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Hawat controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Hawat won't allow Graves to sweep him here.
Graves manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hawat manages to get himself to full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Graves passes Hawat's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Hawat wants to improve his position but Graves is controlling well.

Hawat controlling the position well here. Graves rolled but Hawat kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Thufir Hawat has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Hawat's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Graves rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Graves is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hawat's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hawat's back!

Graves has good solid back control here.
Graves gets his hands free as Hawat looks to control.
Hawat is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Graves.

Graves's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
