PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Never Hurry (ranked 2382 p4p, 1388 weight class) and Alexus Argento (ranked 289 p4p, 173 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Argento's choice of entrance music: For Heavy Metal we will die!. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hurry throws a head kick that misses.
Hurry tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Argento manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hurry throws a head kick but Argento moves out of range.
Hurry ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Argento moves away.
Argento appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Hurry darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Hurry gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Hurry lands a body shot in the clinch.

Hurry pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Argento takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Hurry closes the distance and clinches.

Argento breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hurry misses with a hook. Argento ducked under it nicely.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Argento has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Hurry looks to score with a jab to the body but Argento is just out of range.

Hurry has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Argento is working away from the top position though.
Argento lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Hurry is staying active underneath Argento, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Argento is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Argento might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hurry haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Argento is trying to control. Hurry wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Argento is nestled in close to Hurry, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Argento is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Argento is working Hurry over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Hurry controls Argento momentarily but Argento frees himself.
Argento is looking to work some ground and pound but Hurry has wrist control.
Argento postures up in Hurry's guard and throws a big left but Hurry blocks it.
Argento not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Argento is in close to Hurry's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Argento trying to control the position from guard on top but Hurry is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Argento throws a strike but Hurry rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Argento escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hurry gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Argento stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

and Argento makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Hurry really felt that one!
Oh Hurry is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Argento lands with a right and another and another! Hurry is in big trouble! Argento lands again and this time it's lights out for Hurry! A quality knockout there for Argento.
