The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gunso leaves Piper with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Piper closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gunso's guard.

Gunso is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Piper presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Piper has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Gunso after a bit of a struggle.
Gunso is looking to break free of the clinch but Piper has double underhooks.

Gunso has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Piper off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
