Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vladimir Kosmanov (ranked 286 p4p, 736 weight class) and Nico DiAngelo (ranked 51 p4p, 114 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vladimir Kosmanov!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nico DiAngelo!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Aafke Stam and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DiAngelo shoots in looking for a takedown. Kosmanov tries to sprawl out of it but DiAngelo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kosmanov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kosmanov misses with a hook. DiAngelo ducked under it nicely.
DiAngelo walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
DiAngelo shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Kosmanov counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Kosmanov enables DiAngelo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kosmanov manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Kosmanov wants to sweep here but DiAngelo controlling him for the moment.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Kosmanov holds on and takes a little breather.
DiAngelo is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Kosmanov is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Kosmanov has escaped and now he's on top!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
DiAngelo tries to land a sweep but no joy.
DiAngelo can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kosmanov controls the pace.

Kosmanov has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
DiAngelo wants to improve his position but Kosmanov is controlling well.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kosmanov connects with a nice short shot to DiAngelo's temple.
Still in half guard, Kosmanov seems content to control.
Kosmanov lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Well, if Kosmanov is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Kosmanov seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

DiAngelo is looking for a sweep. Kosmanov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Kosmanov connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused DiAngelo some visible discomfort.
Kosmanov cracks DiAngelo with a big right hand but DiAngelo just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

DiAngelo is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Kosmanov is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
