Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Silva (ranked 4461 p4p, 4284 weight class) and Evgen Slabakov (ranked 0 p4p, 195 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Evgen Slabakov!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva darts in looking for a takedown but Slabakov gets double underhooks and turns Silva into the cage.
Silva avoiding damage as Slabakov throws knees to the body.
Silva is looking to break free of the clinch but Slabakov has double underhooks.

Slabakov breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Slabakov misses with a head kick.
Slabakov throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

It looks like Anderson Silva has been cut.
Slabakov tries a head kick but it misses.

Silva closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Slabakov tries to circle away but Silva has him pinned against the cage.
Slabakov is trying to break the clinch but Silva is controlling him.
Slabakov wants to get back to striking at distance but Silva won't allow it.

Slabakov is trying to break the clinch but Silva has him pressed against the cage.

Silva jumps into guard, dragging Slabakov to the mat.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Silva breaks from Slabakov's wrist control and lands an elbow.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Silva cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Silva takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The referee warns Slabakov that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Slabakov gets tackled into the cage by Silva. Silva maintains the clinch.

Slabakov breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Evgen Slabakov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Slabakov lands a head kick. Silva smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Slabakov throws a head kick but Silva moves out of range.
Slabakov throws a sloppy head kick
and Silva counters with a series of strikes. Slabakov will be more careful next time no doubt.
Slabakov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Silva closes the distance and clinches.

Silva jumps guard and drags Slabakov to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Silva bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Slabakov's guard.

Silva gets to his feet - Slabakov follows without any prompting.
Slabakov lands a head kick. Silva smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Silva pushes Slabakov off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

and Silva counters with a left and a right that stings Slabakov.
Slabakov leaves Silva with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Slabakov misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Slabakov just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromSilva.
Silva is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Slabakov can do to turn this around?
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Silva shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Slabakov defends it nicely.

Silva moves into the clinch.
Slabakov gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Silva.

Slabakov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Silva is trying to force a seperation but Slabakov has the dominant position.

Slabakov tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Silva has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Slabakov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Silva is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Slabakov can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Silva looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Slabakov tries to lock up and control but Silva gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Silva sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Silva has hold of Slabakov's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Slabakov manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Silva lands a big shot there that rocks Slabakov but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Evgen Slabakov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Anderson Silva is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Silva takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Silva, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
