Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hong Myung (ranked 3384 p4p, 3030 weight class) and Alkandros Vasilios (ranked 273 p4p, 240 weight class). Myung comes to the cage accompanied by 지금부터 끝까지. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hong Myung!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alkandros Vasilios!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, William Peck and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Myung feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Vasilios is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Vasilios lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Vasilios drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Vasilios jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Myung has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Myung is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Vasilios postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Myung is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Vasilios, into his guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Vasilios is on top in guard.

Myung wants to get back to his feet but Vasilios is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Let's hope that Vasilios has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Myung is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Myung is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Vasilios is aware though and is defending well.

Vasilios avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Vasilios wants to control from the top but Myung keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hong Myung seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Vasilios tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Myung defends well and Vasilios ends up having to push Myung into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Myung bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The fighters are battling for position here. Vasilios manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Vasilios escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Myung gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hong Myung overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Vasilios has his foot on Myung's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Myung works his way back into a safe position though.
Myung stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vasilios swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Myung makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Myung throws a strike but Vasilios rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Vasilios in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Myung tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Vasilios!

After winning the bout, Alkandros Vasilios thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
