Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aramis Knox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gonzo Souza!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Nard Betker and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knox clobbers Souza with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

It looks like Gonzo Souza has been cut.
Knox wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Knox lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Souza is rocked!

Souza gets tackled into the cage by Knox. Knox maintains the clinch.

Souza jumps into guard, dragging Knox to the mat.
Knox controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Knox scoring with punches to the head and body.
Souza is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Knox looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Souza is looking for a triangle here but Knox uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Knox cracks Souza with a big elbow.
Souza is trying to get back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Souza is looking for a sweep.
Knox lands an elbow.
Souza is still in real trouble! Can Knox finish him?
Knox is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Knox wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Souza, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Souza seems to have recovered his senses.

Souza is looking for a sweep.
Knox has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Knox tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Knox has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Knox looks up at the clock and then as Souza takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Knox smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Knox controls the position.

Knox is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Souza has escaped the position, nice work there.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Knox fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Souza, pushing him back against the cage.

Knox decides to pull guard.
Aramis Knox overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Knox keeping moving, preventing Souza from controlling successfully.

Knox is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Souza rolls with it to try and escape but Knox cranks on the arm and Souza is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Aramis Knox!
Aramis Knox bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
