Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sammy Nyla (ranked 672 p4p, 2367 weight class) and Curtis Rome (ranked 100 p4p, 298 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sammy Nyla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 14 - 3, fighting out of Amsterdam, Curtis Rome!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Marco Blurström and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rome looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Nyla!

Rome thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Rome wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Nyla, who protects the arm well.
Rome tries to move into full mount but can't pass Nyla's legs.
Rome advances to mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rome is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Rome has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
A swing and a miss from Nyla.
Rome keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Nyla.
It seemed like Rome was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Nyla has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Crapollas Gym in the buildup to the fight.

Rome staying out of range there.
Nyla looks to land a left hand but Rome moved out of range nicely.
A slow jab from Nyla misses its intended target.
Nyla misses with a lunging right hand
and Rome counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Nyla misses with a jab to the body
letting Rome counter with a right hand.
Rome moves out of range of the strikes.
Nyla misses with a right hand
and Rome counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Rome slips a straight right by Nyla.
Rome fails with the takedown.

Nyla misses with an uppercut
and Rome counters with a left and a right that stings Nyla.
Nyla misses with a looping left.
Rome doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Nyla throws a poor cross that misses
and Rome counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nyla throws an ugly left hook that misses
letting Rome counter with a right hand.
Nyla misses with an uppercut. Rome saw that one coming.
Rome dives in and grabs Nyla's left leg, looking for a takedown. Nyla pushes down on Rome's head and hops out.

Rome decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Rome is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Nyla has managed to free his arm - good work.
Nyla is trying to stand back up but Rome is controlling him
Rome is pressing down on Nyla's thigh, looking to free his foot. Nyla is holding on for now.
Rome is still trying to improve position.
Nyla is looking to improve his position.
Nyla won't allow Rome to pass to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nyla is looking to improve his position.
Rome passes the guard and advances to mount!

Rome goes for an armbar but Nyla turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Nyla.
Nyla has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Rome lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Rome tries to free his leg and advance position but Nyla is retaining full guard.
Nyla is pulling down on Rome's head to control his posture.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Curtis Rome dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Rome has a takedown stuffed.

Nyla instigates a clinch.
Nyla misses with the head strike.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Rome.
Nyla tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Rome has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rome takes a shot to the head.
Nyla misses with a hook from the clinch.
A right hook to the body lands for Nyla.
Nyla tries to break free but Rome pushes him back against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rome tries for a takedown but Nyla manages to get underhooks.
Rome tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Sammy Nyla has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Curtis Rome.
Nyla throws a head punch that misses.
Nyla lands a body punch.
Nyla has a couple of punches blocked by Rome.
Nyla stops a takedown attempt from Rome.
Rome has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Nyla is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Rome has clasped his hands together around Nyla's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Rome is working to tighten his grip on Nyla's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Nyla has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Rome is really squeezing tight and eventually Nyla passes out! Rome breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Curtis Rome!
