Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Qasim Suarez (ranked 4345 p4p, 3467 weight class) and Jose Altuve (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jose Altuve told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Suarez fails with the takedown

and Altuve counters with a single leg into guard. Suarez didn't expect that.
Altuve wants to pass the guard but Suarez is keeping the position.
Suarez wants to sweep but no luck.
Altuve pushes down on Suarez's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Suarez wants to control but Altuve passes into side.
You can see the frustration on Suarez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Altuve wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Suarez, who protects the arm well.
Altuve works to advance to full mount. Suarez defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Altuve is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Suarez has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Altuve looking for a guillotine from mount but Suarez is having none of it.
Suarez wants to control but Altuve is having none of it.
Suarez tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Suarez prevents Altuve from taking his back.
Altuve keeps trying to improve his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Suarez tries to lock up and control but Altuve gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Altuve is looking to work his way around to Suarez's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
Altuve should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Suarez is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Altuve locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Suarez is forced to tap!
