This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Ryoma Takatsuka and Roger Salmon.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Warrior clinches up against the ropes.
Esteves is trying to pull guard but Warrior turns him against the ropes and we stay in the clinch.
Esteves is trying to drag Warrior to the mat but Warrior just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there.
Esteves has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Warrior is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Ultimate Warrior has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vartan Esteves.

Warrior is pushing down on Esteves's leg trying to pass to half guard. Esteves is fighting to maintain full guard but Warrior has managed to sneak the leg through.

Warrior tries to free his leg and advance position but Esteves is retaining full guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Esteves wants to pass the guard but Warrior is keeping the position.
Warrior tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Esteves content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Warrior has locked up a guillotine! Warrior's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Esteves is holding on here and Warrior must be using up a lot of energy. Esteves has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Warrior gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ultimate Warrior decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way. |
