And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Patrick Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Bruno Hogan and Ben Watson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Choke slips a jab from Thomas.
Choke appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Choke goes for a double leg but Thomas avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Thomas continues to drive forward.
Thomas gets through Choke's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Thomas prevents a takedown attempt there.
Choke is looking to take this one to the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Choke. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Choke drops down looking for an ankle pick but Thomas pulls his leg out and moves away.
We've been hearing reports that Choke has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Choke gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Thomas counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Choke tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Thomas swivels and escapes.
Choke tries to clinch but Thomas moves out of range.
Thomas throws out a counter right but Choke avoids it with no problem.
Thomas swings and misses with a hook to the body.
As Thomas tries to get set, Choke tries to push him back and clinch up but Thomas manages to avoid the attempt.

and Thomas counters with a straight right hand.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Choke.

Choke drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Choke is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Thomas is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Choke wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Thomas, who protects the arm well.

Thomas is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Choke asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Thomas is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Thomas managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Choke.
Thomas parries the strikes from Choke easily there. Choke is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Thomas to escape.
Thomas is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Choke is controlling him well.

Choke thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Choke working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Thomas takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Thomas gets back to half guard.

Choke is pressing down on Thomas's thigh, looking to free his foot. Thomas is holding on for now.
Thomas is trying to stand up here but Choke is controlling him well.

Choke seems to be working for a kimura but Thomas defends the submission attempt.

Choke in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Thomas tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Choke!
