PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dick Dennison (ranked 882 p4p, 1375 weight class) and Miguel Gonzalez (ranked 129 p4p, 200 weight class). Gonzalez has chosen Alice In Chains - Bleed The Freak as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dick Dennison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Miguel Gonzalez!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Donatello Bradman and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dennison fails with the takedown.
Dick Dennison seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gonzalez just misses with a punch to the body.
Dennison tries to counter with a takedown but Gonzalez is quick to defend against it.
Dennison keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Gonzalez wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gonzalez can do anything to dispel that myth.
Sloppy strikes there by Dennison.
Dennison misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Dennison looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gonzalez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Gonzalez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Gonzalez is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Dennison is controlling him.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Gonzalez connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Gonzalez throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

A nice side step and Gonzalez releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Dennison closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gonzalez circles away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dennison changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gonzalez tries to avoid it but Dennison manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gonzalez to the ground. Gonzalez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dick Dennison. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gonzalez throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Gonzalez misses the shot to the body.
No luck for Dennison with that takedown attempt.
Gonzalez only half commits to the counter leg kick.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Dennison shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gonzalez as he jumps to the side.
Gonzalez throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Dennison remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Dennison wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gonzalez, who protects the arm well.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dick Dennison will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Dennison feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Gonzalezs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dennison working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Dennison is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gonzalez can do to turn this around?

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Dennison in particular looking to stall.
Dennison has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Dennison lands a big elbow - Gonzalez is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Dennison!
