PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kwasi Kwong (ranked 505 p4p, 641 weight class) and Pierre Ledoux (ranked 63 p4p, 90 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kwasi Kwong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pierre Ledoux!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Sosuke Kotani and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kwong avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kwong misses with a looping right.

Ledoux throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Kwong tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ledoux is in Kwong's guard.

It looks like Ledoux might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Ledoux fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Kwong to the ground. Ledoux is now in Kwong's guard.

Ledoux fails in his attempt to clinch.
Kwong seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Kwong keeps the fight on the outside.

Ledoux instigates a clinch.
Ledoux fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Ledoux has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kwong is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Kwong misses with a shot to the kidneys.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ledoux is looking to take this one to the mat.
Kwasi Kwong has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pierre Ledoux.

Ledoux tightens his grip and picks Kwong up, before dumping him to the ground. Kwong manages to land in guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Ledoux working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Kwong knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ledoux on the ground.
Ledoux throws an elbow that misses. Kwong uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ledoux's guard. Nice move by Kwong!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ledoux pulls Kwong in close to prevent any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ledoux looks to clinch
and Ledoux takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

It looks like Pierre Ledoux has been cut.
Kwong misses with a double jab.
Ledoux shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Kwong scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Kwong is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ledoux.

Ledoux looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Kwong throws a looping overhand right but Ledoux ducks down to avoid it.
Ledoux tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kwong manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Kwong lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Ledoux shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Kwong thuds his right hand into Ledoux's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Kwasi Kwong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Kwong cracks Ledoux with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Ledoux looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Kwong finish him?

Ledoux is rocked!
Kwong lands a big uppercut and this one is all over! His foe lies motionless on the canvas - a massive one punch knockout!

During a confident post fight interview, Kwasi Kwong thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
