PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kim Jones (ranked 728 p4p, 517 weight class) and KT Panda (ranked 38 p4p, 30 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that KT Panda was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kim Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, KT Panda!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Percy O'Donnell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Panda tries to clinch but Jones moves away
and Jones counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

It looks like KT Panda has been cut.
Panda clobbers Jones with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
A solid body kick from Panda.
Panda throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Panda avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Panda misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Jones cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Jones gets tackled into the cage by Panda. Panda maintains the clinch.

Panda got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jones has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Panda has managed to get both his arms back between Jones's legs - danger averted.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Panda is continuing to stall.
Jones is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Panda trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Jones uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Panda.
It looked like Jones wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

and Jones counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Panda tries to land a front kick but Jones steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Panda throws a head kick but Jones moves out of range.
Panda lands a slapping body shot.
Panda connects with an inside leg kick.

and Jones counters with a lovely straight right hand!

and Panda is countered with a crisp right hand from Jones that sends him to the canvas! Jones follows him to the mat into side control.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Jones tries for a kimura but Panda is defending well.
Panda is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Jones looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Panda wants to control but Jones is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Jones slows the pace down in half guard.
Panda keeping hold of Jones's head, controlling as best he can.

Panda motions for Jones to come forward. Panda throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
A punch lands to the side of Panda 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Panda scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Panda will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Panda pivots, looking for a leg kick but Jones is out of range and Panda settles back down.

and Jones counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Panda thinking.
Panda is breathing heavily.
Jones lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Well Jones has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
