Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Fujiwara and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson looks to score with a jab to the body but David is just out of range.
Johnson throws out a loose jab but David uses good head movement to avoid it.

David darts in and clinches Johnson up against the cage.
David wants a takedown.
David tries to pull guard but Johnson forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

David breaks from the clinch.

David clinches with his opponent.
David avoiding damage.

David escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A slow jab from Johnson misses its intended target.
Johnson feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Davids jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

David looks like he wants to counter punch here.

David throws a nice looking combination but Johnson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

David fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Johnson avoids it really well and circles away.
Johnson sizes up David with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Johnson is defended easily by David.
Johnson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. David sees it coming and avoids it easily.
David looks for a takedown but Johnson sprawls well.
Johnson lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Johnson feints a jab promting David to slip. Johnson then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. David slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Johnson scores with a one two! David had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
David pulls out of a head kick attempt.

David gets caught napping as Johnson dives in and scores a takedown. David manages to retain guard.
Johnson looking to sit in guard and control but David gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
David stops Johnson from standing up.
David slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Let's hope that David has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Johnson is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

David stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Johnson fails with a takedown attempt.
Johnson darts in looking for a takedown but David gets double underhooks and turns Johnson into the cage.

David breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Some bone on bone action there as David checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

David clinches with his opponent.
David wants to take the fight to the mat but Johnson manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

A bit of stalling here from Johnson.
David tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Johnson smiles and moves away.
David tries to score a power double leg takedown but Johnson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten David somewhat.

Johnson throws a series of punches but David avoids them all with ease.

David rushes Johnson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
David wants to take the fight to the mat but Johnson manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

David gets control of Johnson's arms and successfully pulls guard. David will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
David is adopting a defensive guard.
David throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

David is pulling down on Johnson's head. It's preventing any offense from Johnson, at least for the moment.

That was a close second round but I would say that Daniel Johnson will probably get the nod.

Daniel Johnson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
It looks like Johnson is going to stand back up.

David ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
It seemed like David was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Johnson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
