PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rock Fish (ranked 1806 p4p, 1940 weight class) and Taz McKane (ranked 261 p4p, 275 weight class). Fish comes to the cage accompanied by Imagine Dragons - Warriors. McKane has chosen SAVE ME as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rock Fish!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Taz McKane!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, John Kavanagh and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fish tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McKane was well out of range. Poor timing from Fish.
Both fighters circling a little - McKane finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
McKane tries to clinch up.
Fish drops down looking for a counter takedown but McKane sprawls and moves away.
McKane ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Fish has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from McKane finds it's way round the side to connect with Fish's head.
Fish misses with an uppercut. McKane saw that one coming.
McKane throws out a counter right but Fish avoids it with no problem.
Fish uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from McKane.
McKane lands a nice leg kick that just misses Fish's sensitive parts.
McKane scores with a jab.
Fish thows a left - swing and a miss!
McKane misses with a combination
and McKane takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Fish lands a leg kick that knocks McKane off balance momentarily.
McKane throws an overhand right that lands on Fish's shoulder, as Fish tries to avoid the shot.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Fish throws a nice inside leg kick.
A shot to the liver by McKane. Beautiful body shot.
Some bone on bone action there as Fish checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Fish tries to move into range but McKane moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

McKane scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
McKane looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Fish ducks down and throws a hook to the body but McKane moves away.
McKane walks into a straight right hand from Fish.
A solid body kick from McKane.
McKane throws a nice inside leg kick.
McKane moves into range and connects with a jab.
McKane misses with a body shot.
McKane misses with an attempted mid kick.
McKane lands with a kick to the ribs.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fish shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
McKane throws a jab when Fish was well out of range.
McKane scores with a punch to the head.

McKane cracks Fish with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Fish looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can McKane finish him?
Fish misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Fish ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Taz McKane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fish missing with a left hand there. McKane was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
A low kick from McKane is predictable there

and Fish counters with a nice double leg into side control. McKane won't be happy with that.
McKane is trying to control Fish's posture but Fish avoids it.

Fish is trying to get an arm triangle but McKane is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McKane wants to control but Fish postures up.

Fish thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
McKane gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
McKane is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Fish sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
McKane has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Fish trying to control but McKane is having none of it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
McKane is wriggling around trying to escape.
McKane is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Fish is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. McKane can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
McKane is squirming around, avoiding Fish's attempts to control the action.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Taz McKane dominated that round.

McKane keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A nice leg kick from McKane, right into the meat of the thigh.
McKane is looking to land body kicks.
McKane lands with an overhand left.
McKane rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Fish counters with a straight right hand.
Fish throws a sloppy body shot
and McKane counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Fish thinking.
A decent looking body kick lands there for McKane.
Fish misses with an uppercut. McKane saw that one coming.
McKane was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Fish swings for the body but McKane moves out of range.
McKane throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Fish ducks under a wild hook from McKane.
McKane has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Fish moves out of range as McKane throws a body kick.
McKane wants to clinch but Fish slips to the side
and Fish counters with a left to the body.

Fish looking to score a takedown here. McKane is defending well but Fish drives through and ends up in McKane's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Fish trying to control the position from guard on top but McKane is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Fish stopping the sweep attempt from McKane.
Fish stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McKane swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Fish is working hard here to advance position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
McKane connects with an inside leg kick.
McKane throws a lazy right hand but Fish sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Fish swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Nice defenses there by Fish.
Fish throws a sloppy head kick and McKane moves out of range easily.
Fish swings for the body but McKane moves out of range.
Fish swats away the attempt to clinch by McKane.
Taz McKane is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
McKane throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Taz McKane seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Fish checks a leg kick.
Fish lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
McKane throws a hook to the side of Fish's head but Fish sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Fish lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and McKane has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from McKane and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

McKane walks into a stiff left hand from Fish.
McKane lands with a kick to the ribs.
Fish connects with an inside leg kick.
McKane throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
McKane throws an overhand right that lands on Fish's shoulder, as Fish tries to avoid the shot.
McKane scores with a punch to the head.
McKane misses with a low kick.
McKane thuds a left hand into Fish's body.
Fish throws a big shot that misses.

McKane closes the distance and clinches.
McKane working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Fish prevents a body shot from McKane.
McKane fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Fish blocks an uppercut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A nice right hand lands inside from Fish.

McKane lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Fish backwards.
McKane with an attempt at a knee that misses.
McKane landing some nice looking knees to the body.
McKane working aggressively here.
McKane tries to land knees in the clinch but Fish avoids the damage to the body.
McKane scores with a shot to the side of Fish's head.
A right hook to the body lands for McKane.

Fish gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Fish thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed McKane's head.
McKane moves into full guard.
Fish wants to pass the guard but McKane is keeping the position.
Fish preventing the sweep.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Taz McKane showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

McKane throws the kick towards the body but Fish avoids it.
McKane throws a push kick but Fish slaps the foot to one side.
Fish lands with a slapping head kick.
Fish walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. McKane checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Fish throws a head kick but McKane moves out of range.
McKane scores with a shot to the body.
Nice body kick there by McKane.
McKane checks a low kick from Fish.
McKane throws a shot from downtown. Fish moves away and avoids it.
McKane lands with a nice body punch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McKane smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Fish looks to score with a jab to the body but McKane is just out of range.
A decent looking body kick lands there for McKane.
This has been an exciting period of action!
McKane lands a nice leg kick that just misses Fish's sensitive parts.
McKane pushes Fish away with a front kick.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

McKane dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Fish on the wrong end of a nice hook.
McKane looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Fish feinted with a counter takedown.
McKane connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Fish throws a sloppy head kick and McKane moves out of range easily.
McKane throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Fish on the side of the head.
Fish gets cracked with a nice right hand there by McKane.

Fish is rocked!
Fish gets tagged by a hook that puts him to sleep! McKane points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. Fish wakes up just in time to hear McKane thank his coaches in the post fight interview.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Taz McKane!
During a confident post fight interview, Taz McKane thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
