The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Esteves gets caught flat footed, as Read shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Esteves (0) vs (2) Read
Read seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Esteves is on top in guard.

Read is looking to work his way around to Esteves's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
Read has hold of Esteves's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Esteves manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Read is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Esteves has managed to escape the submission attempt.
