PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Vladimr Kozlov (ranked 5950 p4p, 25487 weight class) and Punch Bag (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bag comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Eye of the tiger kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Punch Bag has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladimr Kozlov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Punch Bag!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Dmitry Maklakov and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bag wants to clinch but Kozlov slips to the side

so Kozlov counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Kozlov is looking to work some ground and pound but Bag has wrist control.
Kozlov missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Bag is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kozlov working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Kozlov wants to control from the top but Bag keeps moving.
Kozlov is looking to advance position but Bag has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bag wants to control the pace but Kozlov is squirming around nicely.
Kozlov tries to lock up and control but Bag gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Bag can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kozlov is looking to escape.

Bag get's back to his feet.

Kozlov feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Bag is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kozlov is controlling him.
Bag has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Cozad MMA Tokyo. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bag trying to control but Kozlov is working from the bottom.
Bag wants to stand and escape but instead Kozlov has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Kozlov is pushing down on Bag's leg trying to pass to half guard. Bag is fighting to maintain full guard but Kozlov has managed to sneak the leg through.
Kozlov looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Kozlov has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Kozlov goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Bag is on top in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bag got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kozlov has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bag has managed to get both his arms back between Kozlov's legs - danger averted.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Bag shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kozlov sprawls well. Kozlov wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bag gets slowly back to his feet.

Kozlov is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Bag is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Bag has escaped and now he's on top!

Kozlov kicks Bag off and gets to his feet.

Bag shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kozlov defends it nicely.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kozlov is in close to Bag's body, working some short punches and elbows.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kozlov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bag swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bag can't keep his opponent in guard - Kozlov advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Bag is not content to let Kozlov control the position.
Kozlov prevents Bag from standing back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bag is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kozlov connects with a nice short shot to Bag's temple.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Bag misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
