Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ralph Hall (ranked 729 p4p, 754 weight class) and Hideki Nakamura (ranked 95 p4p, 99 weight class). Hall comes to the cage accompanied by Pinball Wizard. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hideki Nakamura!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A bone on bone clash there as Hall blocks the leg kick.
Hall tries to counter with a takedown but Nakamura is quick to defend against it.
Nakamura will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Nakamura misses with a straight right.
Nakamura throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Nakamura scores with a crisp jab that stopped Hall in his tracks.

It looks like Ralph Hall has been cut.

Nakamura rushes Hall and presses him up against the cage.
Nakamura throws a head punch that misses.
Nakamura can't find room to land a body shot as Hall controls the action.
Hall tries to pull guard but Nakamura won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hall is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Nakamura defends well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nakamura wants to free his trapped foot but Hall is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Hall is looking for a sweep. Nakamura is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Nakamura wants to control but Hall is keeping him busy.
Hall trying to hold on to Nakamura's head to control him but Nakamura postures up.

Hall looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Nakamura content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Let's hope that Nakamura has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Hall is staying active underneath Nakamura, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Nakamura is trying to control. Hall wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
A punch lands to the side of Nakamura 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Hall throws a lazy right hand but Nakamura sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Nakamura looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Nakamura lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hall shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Nakamura defends it nicely.

Nakamura thuds his shin into the meat of Hall's side.

Nakamura instigates a clinch.
Nakamura pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Hall tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ralph Hall. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hall blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Hall is trying to pull guard but Nakamura has him pressed against the cage.

Hall tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Nakamura darts in and clinches Hall up against the cage.
Hall fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Nakamura scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Nakamura comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Hall blocks an elbow strike.
Come on Nakamura - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Hall jumps guard and drags Nakamura to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Nakamura advances position into side control!

Nakamura tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Nakamura has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Hall regains half guard there - taking advantage of Nakamura's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hall is not content to let Nakamura control the position.

Hall is pressing down on Nakamura's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Hall throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Hall escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nakamura gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hall has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Nakamura is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Hall.

Hall is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Nakamura might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hall haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Nakamura takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Well Nakamura has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
