Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roger Paiva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenta Kobashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roger Paiva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kenta Kobashi!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Paulo Santos and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kobashi closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Paiva has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kobashi avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Kobashi unloads a knee to the mid-section.

Paiva gets control of Kobashi's arms and successfully pulls guard. Paiva will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Paiva fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kobashi, pushing him back against the cage.

Kobashi turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Kobashi manages to end up in side control.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Paiva changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kobashi tries to avoid it but Paiva manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kobashi to the ground. Kobashi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Paiva is working for a submission of some sort.
Paiva slips a nice elbow through Kobashi's hands, connecting with Kobashi's forehead.
Paiva looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kobashi with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Paiva has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Roger Paiva.
Well Kobashi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
