Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Giorgi Painter (ranked 4402 p4p, 4443 weight class) and Richard Homewood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Homewood is defended easily by Painter .

A momentary lapse in concentration from Homewood enables Painter to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Homewood manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Homewood has his feet on Painter 's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Homewood closes the distance and clinches up with Painter , looking for a takedown. Homewood pushes Painter against the cage but Painter circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

That was a close round but I would say that Giorgi Painter will probably get the nod.

Homewood has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Painter has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

It looks like it's working - Painter slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Homewood displaying calm under pressure there.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

and Painter cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Painter tries to clinch up but Homewood circles away and keeps his distance.
Homewood will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
