Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anthony Merel!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cadence Collins!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Winston Howard and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Collins slips a straight right by Merel.
Good shot there by Collins.
Anthony Merel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Merel is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Collins.
A little jabbing left from Collins on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Merel throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Merel just misses with a punch to the body.
Merel jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Collins uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Merel.
Collins lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Merel throws a hook to the side of Collins's head but Collins sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Merel connects with a crisp jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Collins looks to score with a jab to the body but Merel is just out of range.
Merel shoots for a takedown but Collins saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Collins only half commits to the counter leg kick.

Merel misses with a hook. Collins ducked under it nicely.
Collins throws a wild body kick that Merel sees coming a mile off.
A little feinted left hand from Merel on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

and Collins cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Collins paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Nice defenses there by Collins.
Collins is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Merel chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Collins can pounce on him.
Merel just misses with a punch to the body.
Merel throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Merel looks to score with a jab to the body but Collins is just out of range.
Collins shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Merel lands a really nice looking cross but Collins seems unphased.

Merel gets cracked there but stands up to it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Collins has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Merel finds it's way round the side to connect with Collins's head.

and Collins counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Merel throws a hook to the side of Collins's head but Collins sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Collins connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Collins is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Merel had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.

Collins looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Collins bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Merel ducks under a wild hook from Collins.
Merel cracks Collins with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Collins looks to land a left hand but Merel moved out of range nicely.
Merel blocks the body kick.
Merel throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Collins! But no joy.
A slow jab from Merel misses its intended target.
Collins keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Collins flicks out a counter leg kick but Merel steps away.
Collins uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Merel.
Collins bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Cadence Collins will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Merel gets a takedown into half guard.
Collins tries to roll over but Merel keeps him under control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Collins is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Merel's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Merel's back!

Collins sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Merel taps out!
