PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Luciano Ocampo (ranked 1046 p4p, 2099 weight class) and Brendon Carrillo-Moreno (ranked 64 p4p, 121 weight class). Brendon Carrillo-Moreno told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Luciano Ocampo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Brendon Carrillo-Moreno!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Russell Pearce and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carrillo-Moreno looks to throw the jab but Ocampo is out of range.
Ocampo throws a shot to the body.
Luciano Ocampo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Carrillo-Moreno feints and as Ocampo raises his hands in defense, Carrillo-Moreno changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Ocampo has control of Carrillo-Moreno's left arm, preventing Carrillo-Moreno from doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carrillo-Moreno passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Carrillo-Moreno felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Luciano Ocampo.
I think Ocampo has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
