PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pontimonious Symphony (ranked 5416 p4p, 4153 weight class) and Andrew Childers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Daniel Franklin and Sandra Marshall.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Symphony shoots in looking for a takedown. Childers tries to sprawl out of it but Symphony keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Childers manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
As Symphony backs off Childers throws a huge counter combo but Symphony manages to avoid it all.
A head kick misses from Symphony.
Symphony misses with a head kick.
And Childers tries to counter it with a takedown but Symphony pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Symphony fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Childers, pushing him back against the cage.
Childers keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Symphony's efforts to push away.

Childers manages to pull guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Symphony throwing strikes from guard but Childers blocks nicely.

Childers looking for a guillotine here but Symphony defends easily.

Childers being controlled here, momentarily.
Childers avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Symphony loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Symphony sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Childers tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Childers looks winded!
Symphony throws a head kick that misses.
Symphony fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Childers avoids it really well and circles away.
Childers throws a head kick that half lands.

Childers throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A little feinted left hand from Symphony on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Pontimonious Symphony seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Childers is defended easily by Symphony.
Symphony throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Symphony has closed the distance and engaged Childers in a clinch.
Symphony really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Childers stops a takedown attempt from Symphony.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pontimonious Symphony. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Childers has Symphony pressed against the cage, preventing Symphony from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Symphony ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Symphony no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Childers wants to control from the top but Symphony keeps moving.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Symphony is on top in guard.

Childers working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Symphony doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Symphony manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Symphony trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Childers is looking for a triangle here but Symphony uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Symphony is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
