PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Iso Danny (ranked 4540 p4p, 4196 weight class) and Rory Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Iso Danny!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rory Davis!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Daniel Franklin and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Davis shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Danny makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Davis pushes Danny up against the cage in a clinch.
Danny changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Davis fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Danny clinches with his opponent.
Danny tries to score a body lock takedown but Davis shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Davis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Davis is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Danny's half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Davis is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Davis controlling the pace.
Danny won't allow Davis to pass to mount.
Danny slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Danny has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Davis is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Danny.
Danny tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Davis wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Davis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Danny keeps working.
Danny tries to bench press Davis off him but Davis keeps the position.

Davis tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Davis trying to control the position but Danny is working away.
Danny trying to control but Davis flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Despite being in a bad position, Danny is controlling the hands, preventing any submission attempts.
Danny looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Danny staying busy and making it hard for Davis to control.
Danny tries to break free.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Danny is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Danny wants to get back to his feet.
Danny tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Danny is looking to improve his position but Davis isn't that keen on the idea.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Danny sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Davis is looking to clinch.
Danny changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Davis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Davis!

Danny throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Davis was covering up waiting for the punch and Danny finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Davis has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Danny off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Davis feints and as Danny raises his hands in defense, Davis changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Danny is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Danny keeping moving, preventing Davis from controlling successfully.
Davis slips nicely into half guard.
Danny makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Danny.

Danny has his foot on Davis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Davis works his way back into a safe position though.

Danny looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Davis has picked Danny up and slammed him! Danny can't keep hold of the triangle and Davis manages to pass to side control!
Davis has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Davis tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Danny is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Davis off and has taken his back!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Danny has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Davis has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Davis turns into Danny and is now in his guard.

Danny working for submissions but it's allowed Davis to get to half guard.

Danny is not content to let Davis control the position.

Davis is trying to work for a kimura but Danny is defending well.
Danny wants to improve his position but Davis is controlling well.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Danny is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Davis pulls his head out easily.
Davis passes to full mount!
Danny knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Davis on the ground.

Danny is squirming around, avoiding Davis's attempts to control the action.
Davis sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Danny is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Rory Davis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Davis throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Davis enables Danny to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Davis manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Davis is trying to control the position but Danny postures up.

Danny is looking to pass into half guard but Davis pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Davis is in guard.


Danny looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Davis got a little sloppy there for a moment and Danny has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Davis has managed to get both his arms back between Danny's legs - danger averted.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Danny had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Davis defends it easily.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Danny has his feet on Davis's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Davis blocks a leg kick.

Danny looking to score a takedown here. Davis is defending well but Danny drives through and ends up in Davis's guard.

Davis has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Danny is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Davis decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Danny is trying to get back to full guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Danny is looking to get back to full guard here but Davis has managed to pass to side control instead.

Davis is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Danny knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
You can see the frustration on Danny's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Danny is looking for a sweep.
Davis is looking to take a break and control but Danny is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Danny wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Danny is working hard here to advance position.
Danny struggling a bit here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Danny tries for a takedown but Davis sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rory Davis is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
A nice inside leg kick there by Davis. That's going to slow Danny down.
Davis lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Davis decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Danny pushes Davis off and gets back to his feet.
Davis keeps Danny at a distance using the push kick.
A head kick by Davis misses
and Danny counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Iso Danny has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
No joy there for Danny, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rory Davis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Davis winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
