PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between India Numberone (ranked 4194 p4p, 4341 weight class) and Ken Tsai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, India Numberone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ken Tsai!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Dirk Anderson and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tsai walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Numberone.
Numberone misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Numberone misses with a takedown attempt - Tsai sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Tsai tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Numberone defends well and Tsai ends up having to push Numberone into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Numberone closes the distance and clinches.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Numberone lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Tsai drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Numberone gets the underhooks and prevents it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

India Numberone has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ken Tsai.
Numberone is looking to take this one to the mat.

Tsai lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Numberone manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Tsai keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Tsai has Numberone pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Numberone manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Tsai is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Numberone can't fight it off and eventually Tsai manages to take the fight to the floor. Numberone looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Numberone feints a jab promting Tsai to slip. Numberone then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Tsai slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tsai looks up at the clock and then as Numberone takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Tsai smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Numberone pushes Tsai away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Tsai gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Tsai cracks Numberone with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Numberone might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Tsai sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Numberone is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Tsai is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Numberone will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Let's hope that Tsai has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that India Numberone will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Tsai stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Tsai wants it to stay on the feet.

Numberone is looking for a sweep. Tsai is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Tsai looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Numberone with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
