The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rimenis moves out of range of the leg kick from Garotinho.
Rimenis gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Garotinho to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Garotinho is looking to work some ground and pound but Rimenis has wrist control.

Garotinho controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Rimenis tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rimenis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Garotinho. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Rimenis has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Garotinho throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rimenis tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Garotinho is in Rimenis's guard.
Garotinho passes into half guard.
Garotinho takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
That has opened up Maris Rimenis's cut even more.
Garotinho is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Garotinho is nestled in close to Rimenis, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
