Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Edmond Chabazian!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Herio Lupsaka!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lupsaka stalks Chabazian and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Chabazian's face. Chabazian staggers backwards, shaken.
Chabazian goes for a double leg but Lupsaka avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Lupsaka continues to drive forward.
We've been hearing reports that Chabazian has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Chabazian is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Lupsaka pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Chabazian drags the fight down to the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chabazian wants to sweep but no luck.
Chabazian controls Lupsaka momentarily but Lupsaka frees himself.
Chabazian looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lupsaka is one step ahead there.
Lupsaka is stalling in the full guard.
Chabazian trying to keep a closed guard but Lupsaka is proving a slippery customer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lupsaka slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Lupsaka wants to control from the top but Chabazian keeps moving.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Chabazian is on top in guard.

Lupsaka is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lupsaka can do anything to dispel that myth.
Chabazian is pushing down on Lupsaka's leg trying to pass to half guard. Lupsaka is fighting to maintain full guard but Chabazian has managed to sneak the leg through.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chabazian seems to be looking for submissions.
Lupsaka is looking for a sweep. Chabazian is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Lupsaka holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Chabazian trying to mount his opponent but Lupsaka defends it.
Chabazian wants to take a breather but Lupsaka is having none of it.
Lupsaka wants to improve his position but Chabazian is controlling well.

Chabazian is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Lupsaka wants to get back to full guard.
Chabazian moves nicely into side control.
Chabazian passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Lupsaka!

Chabazian jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Lupsaka is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Lupsaka and Chabazian has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Lupsaka is trying to control Chabazian's posture but Chabazian avoids it.
Chabazian trying to control the action but Lupsaka is working from the bottom.
Chabazian wants to control for a moment but Lupsaka uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Chabazian is thwarting Lupsaka's attempts to control the position.

Chabazian is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Lupsaka doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Chabazian.
Lupsaka slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Chabazian pushing down on Lupsaka's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Lupsaka is not content to let Chabazian control the position.
Lupsaka tries to roll over but Chabazian keeps him under control.

Chabazian is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Chabazian takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Chabazian maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Lupsaka could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Chabazian has cracked it and Lupsaka is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Chabazian!

After winning the bout, Edmond Chabazian thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
