The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnes lands with a thumping leg kick.
McDonald throws a low kick, looking for Barnes's leg but Barnes calmly moves out of range.

Barnes is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in McDonald's half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
McDonald pushes Barnes off looking to stand but Barnes dives back in and keeps control.
Barnes has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Barnes lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
McDonald looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Barnes lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Barnes landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
McDonald is trying to stand back up but Barnes is controlling him
Barnes perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Barnes is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and McDonald defends it well.

Barnes lands a decent elbow from side control.

Barnes wants to lay and pray for a moment but McDonald keeps working.
