Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jim Lahey (ranked 2653 p4p, 3318 weight class) and Patrick Slinger (ranked 243 p4p, 291 weight class). Slinger has chosen Hail Mary as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slinger misses with a takedown
and Lahey counters with a nice uppercut.
Slinger is trying hard to land a takedown here. Lahey sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Slinger slips under a jab from Lahey.

Slinger shoots in and bounces Lahey off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Slinger missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Lahey wants to hit a sweep here but Slinger passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Lahey there!
Slinger misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Slinger thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Slinger can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Lahey is looking to escape.
Slinger has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The referee warns Lahey that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Lahey is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
BOOM! Slinger connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Lahey avoids a series of strikes thrown by Slinger.
Slinger lands a big shot there that rocks Lahey but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Slinger throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Slinger lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Slinger postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Lahey badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Slinger around the waist but Slinger pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Slinger is the winner by TKO! Slinger jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Jim Lahey spoke after the fight, saying 'This Fuckin SHIT Pirate cheated!'.
