Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Scott Thompson (ranked 4828 p4p, 5587 weight class) and Gago Putangina (ranked 447 p4p, 504 weight class). Thompson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Redneck Summer - Ben Hudson. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Putangina.

Putangina closes the distance and clinches.
Thompson lands a good knee to the midsection. Putangina won't want to take too many of those.
Putangina looks winded!
Thompson is leaning against Putangina and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Thompson doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Thompson has clasped his hands together around Putangina's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Putangina gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Putangina is in a horrible position here. Thompson smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Thompson postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Putangina looks a forlorn figure.
Putangina is desperately trying to improve his position but Thompson has a good base and remains in mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Thompson lands a big shot there that rocks Putangina but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Thompson connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Thompson pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Thompson is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Putangina can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Thompson lands a big shot to the head and Putangina winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!

After winning the bout, Scott Thompson thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
Gago Putangina was interviewed post fight and said 'Don't worry I will be back!!'.
