Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimmie Vinge (ranked 6202 p4p, 2029 weight class) and Stanislav Strakapoud (ranked 588 p4p, 295 weight class). The key to victory for Jimmie Vinge has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jimmie Vinge!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Stanislav Strakapoud!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, David Schapiro and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strakapoud shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Vinge sprawls well. Vinge wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Strakapoud gets slowly back to his feet.
Vinge was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Vinge is trying to control the position but Strakapoud postures up.
Vinge pulls Strakapoud in close to his closed guard and prevents Strakapoud from doing any damage or advancing position.

Strakapoud has control of Vinge's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Vinge regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Vinge got a little sloppy there for a moment and Strakapoud has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Vinge has managed to get both his arms back between Strakapoud's legs - danger averted.

Strakapoud has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Vinge is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Strakapoud.

Vinge feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Strakapouds jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

I was talking to Vinge's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Strakapoud is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Strakapoud has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Vinge seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Strakapoud can turn it around.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Vinge creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Strakapoud tries to clinch up but Vinge pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Strakapoud to the mat! Strakapoud covers up and Vinge unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
