The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Montgomery closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Thibodeaux is pressed up against the cage. Montgomery has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Thibodeaux down to the mat. Thibodeaux avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

It looks like Denardrick Montgomery has been cut.
Thibodeaux scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Montgomery shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Thibodeaux counters with a straight right hand.
Montgomery fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Thibodeaux checks it well.
Thibodeaux uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Montgomery has time to react.
Montgomery wants to slow Thibodeaux down by chopping away at his legs.
Thibodeaux swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Thibodeaux getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

That has opened up Denardrick Montgomery's cut even more.
A left lands for Thibodeaux.
Thibodeaux connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Montgomery's hands.
Thibodeaux is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Montgomery looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.

Thibodeaux cracks Montgomery with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Montgomery looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Thibodeaux finish him?

The cut above Denardrick Montgomery's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Montgomery leaves his chin hanging out and Thibodeaux seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Montgomery crumbles to the floor in a heap, and the referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
